The real cause for Nelly Korda’s absence

The WWGR No. 1 Nelly Korda has been playing pretty much back-to-back in major events, this includes the practice rounds of course. She started with the AIG Women’s Open, where she finished at T2, lagging behind 2 strokes from Lydia Ko. With just a week’s gap, she was automatically qualified for the US Team at the Solheim Cup led by Stacy Lewis. That needed more practice than the regular LPGA Tour events due to the team format.

Well, the Stars and Stripes team did come out victorious, but just the next weekend, the golfers had the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G as well. Nelly Korda bagged a T5 at the event, probably due to the prolonged exhaustion. With the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship approaching, they have released their field list. Although there has been no official announcement made as to why she will not be a part of the field, the speculations are that the WWGR No. 1 player will be taking a rest before entering the next event.

Nelly Korda is a fan favourite, and pretty much like Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour, a lot of the LPGA fans seem to be gathering around whenever Korda is teeing off. So, the question is, if not this week, when will she appear next?

Will Korda be playing at the BMW Championship?

While exhaustion could be one of the reasons, there could be another reason as well. The BMW Championship is scheduled from October 17 to October 20 in Korea. It marks the beginning of the deciding stage of this season’s Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour. The series will conclude with the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida (USA) at the end of November. While Nelly Korda is already qualified to be part of the field.

However, this will mark as the stepping milestone of the 2024 season, where her entire season’s hard work will pay off if she wins the title. With not even a month left for the event, there are possibilities that she might directly appear in October, after her month-long preparation for the ultimate series. Why do you think is Nelly Korda not a part of the field this weekend? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
