LIV Golf has been in Australia for its Adelaide event for the past few days. But now that American pro Talor Gooch has aced the tournament, the rebels might have time to think about the upcoming days in golf, especially the 2023 Ryder Cup. Fans absolutely loved it when LIV Golf stars were allowed to appear at the Masters tournament. However, they might have to tone it down a bit this time at the forthcoming event. And we say this as the breakaway league currently faces an uncertain future at the Ryder Cup!

Are LIV Golf players allowed to play at the Ryder Cup?

LIV Golf players didn’t react much in public after they heard that they were allowed to be on the field at Augusta this year. But one can imagine how big of an achievement it was for the Norman-led circuit. In fact, Phil Mickelson’s epic T2 finish, and Brooks Koepka’s 54-hole lead, made it all worth it for the fans.

Nevertheless, the invitational tour might have to face an enormous setback despite their unexpected Masters invites. It has everything to do with the fast-approaching Ryder Cup. As most fans know, the US Team for the prestigious event contains six eligible qualifiers along with six other golfers chosen by the captain. This means that the 12-man US Ryder Cup team will have half the field selected by the current captain, who is none other than Zach Johnson.

After the highly anticipated announcement, Johnson was asked about his mindset moving forward toward the tournament. However, according to his response, he still hasn’t decided on his next move. “No decisions have been made,” he said. “There’s still a lot of time left in that regard, and so many fluid factors involved.”
