When talking to the media, Fabian confessed that he was in two minds when offered the deal. He is aware that his brother is racing for Ferrari, who share a rivalry with Mercedes in F1.

“Mercedes was always our opponent,” he admitted. “It was like that practically for the whole family, because my brother has always raced against them, so in the beginning it was funny.

Fabian also revealed that prior to putting pen to paper, he consulted his older and more experienced brother. Surprisingly, according to Fabian, Sebastian took the news well. But his simple advice was, “If you have the opportunity, go for it!”

The 2019 ADAC GT Masters series kicks off on April 26 in Borde, Germany. Vettel will join compatriot Marvin Dienst at Schutz Motorsport, driving the Mercedes for the upcoming campaign.

Last year’s champion was Mathieu Jaminet and Robert Renauer, driving for Precote Herberth Motorsport. The Frenchman and the German defeated South Africa’s Kelvin Van der Linde and his younger brother Sheldon van der Linde, by a single point.

Meanwhile, Sebastian is hoping to end Mercedes’ dominant run in Formula One and pick up his 5th title. Things are looking positive for Ferrari as the German marquee have suggested that they have issues.
