Signing $360M Aaron Judge to $160 Billion Company, Michael Jordan Has Chosen His MVP

,If Major League Baseball were the S&P, the one stock one would surely have right now would be that of Aaron Judge. The New York Yankees star slugger has picked up in 2023 right where he left off in 2022 with the home run record. Judge’s stock is rapidly rising, and the biggest indicator of that is the people that are buying into his brand. Spoilers here, but they include some of the most successful athletes of days gone by.

Aaron Judge signed a bumper deal with the New York Yankees in the 2023 off-season. And while the signing was a great indicator in and of itself, Judge was also appointed the franchise’s Captain for the length of his 9-year contract. An honor only reserved for the select club in the Pinstripes. And while the baseball community had always acknowledged his value, praise is now ringing from all quarters.

After being declared the 2022 AL MVP for his slugging, Judge recently agreed to a new endorsement deal with the Jordan brand. And while on the surface this may seem like a top athlete merely switching allegiances for a better deal, there is much behind the curtain to unveil.

For starters, Jordan Brand does not yet have a significant roster of MLB athletes. While undoubtedly going for the top, their list currently includes some other MLB stars. The Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm, the Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, the Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and the Padres’ Manny Machado. And of course, the OG, former Yankees captain Derek Jeter. But with Aaron Judge, the Jordan brand seems to have taken a huge leap in its recognizability in terms of its star athletes.

Judge adds a known face to the Jordan brand’s roster from a big city market. It will potentially bring in millions of dollars of revenue for years to come. And with Judge now committed to the Pinstripe cause for life, any uncertainty around him has been put to rest.

The short answer and the long answer are both the same. Maybe. But NBA legend Michael Jordan sure seems to have made his choice.

While the star has signed a new deal with the famous brand, the details are still not clear. And even though Judge’s deal with the Yankees is holds steady, a sizable portion of his income is from his deals off the diamond.

According to a 2023 report by Justin Birnbaum from Forbes, Aaron Judge’s total earnings amounted to $44.5 million. His earning put him up at third position in the ranking of top-earning athletes, counting both on-field and off-field endeavors.

Looking ahead, Judge’s standing might see a slight improvement in the 2024 compilation of the list. And his association with the Jordan brand is expected to play a significant role in this upward trajectory.
