What is greatness? Well, everyone has their own definition of greatness. Greatness is hard to define, with millions of people achieving it in different ways. New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter achieved greatness by winning 5 World Series titles over the course of his career. Many baseball stars fail to win even one of those elusive titles. Jeter worked hard, persevered, and constantly strived to improve his game.

That is what defined his greatness among many other achievements and factors. But most recently, the Yankees’ legendary shortstop revealed what defines greatness in his eyes. The former pro baseballer mentioned 5 points that he considers integral to achieving any form of greatness.

But most recently, the legendary New York Yankees shortstop revealed his definition of greatness. He listed 5 factors that define greatness from his perspective. Jeter’s sports apparel brand Greatness Wins shared a video in which he listed these 5 factors. In it, the Yankees icon said that discipline, focus, consistency, work ethic, and sacrifice are what define greatness.

In the video, Jeter said, “Greatness is discipline, greatness is focus, greatness is consistency, greatness is work ethic, greatness is sacrifice”. This is how the former Yankees’ shortstop describes greatness. Jeter always focused on his game, never letting anyone outwork him. He attributes his hard-working mentality to his upbringing

He had only one goal every year, winning a championship. But there is one aspect of his character that truly allowed him to achieve greatness.
