So finally, a new chapter begins in Boston. The Boston Red Sox have revealed the new City Connect Jersey, inspired by the Green Monster. This name is regarded by many as one of the most intimidating obstacles that batters have to overcome. In addition to paying homage to the famous left-field wall, the new uniform also shows how much the Red Sox value their home stadium. Now, Red Sox executive Troup Parkinson has made some surprising revelations about how the players have reacted to the uniform. Curious to know?
Well, for those unaware, the 37-foot-2-inch-high left field wall at Fenway Park was nicknamed the Green Monster. Being 310 feet from home plate, it has been a popular target for the right-handed hitters in baseball. Now, with the ‘Fenway Greens’ jersey replacing the previous yellow-blue City Connect jersey during the game against the Atlanta Braves, Troup Parkinson has revealed that the players are thrilled with the new uniform, appreciating their connection to Fenway Park.
Speaking on the podcast Baseball Isn’t Boring, Parkinson said, “For years, we’ve been wanting to do something sort of Fenway-focused but the hardest thing for us was getting the color right because Fenway green is not a readily available color.” Now that it’s been unveiled, he further said, “We actually got in on our players last week and they were thrilled, which was really cool.”

Parkinson further revealed that they did a lot of editing on their own to make the uniform attractive. “We didn’t go, you know, as far as we probably could because we really wanted to be super authentic and very much something that we can wear a lot. I mean, this can be a uniform.”
Parkinson, however, made it clear that it wasn’t just about bringing something new; rather, it was more about how strongly the players could feel connected to it and could stand the test of time.
The new uniform features ‘Red Sox’ in a unique font with a ‘B’ logo encircled on the sleeve area. In the front section, the players’ numbers are displayed in yellow, matching the Pesky and Fisk poles in left and right field. In addition to this, the ‘1912’ emblem is embedded in the collar of the uniform, which represents the year when the ballpark was opened. In addition to these elements, the lower left section of the uniform also features a graphic that is a replica of the Green Monster ball. The uniform giveaway is slated for next week.
