‘The Gorilla’ Darren Till has not had the best possible start to his stint in the middleweight division of the UFC. Following two back-to-back losses against the likes of Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal, ‘The Gorilla’ moved up a weight class to 185-pounds. His debut fight at middleweight was a win over Kelvin Gastelum. This was followed by a unanimous decision loss against Robert Whittaker in July 2020. Till has not competed since then.
In the pre-fight press conference, Till had a message for all of his doubters who do not think he can succeed at 185-pounds.
He said, “Yeah, listen, it’s very important. But I take all the pressure of my shoulder. Listen, I am fighting the best out there and anything can happen. I know I am going in there Saturday night and I know 100% I am going to win this fight. I know that for a fact. But things can happen, and listen, all these people who have jumped on the train, mostly the people who have jumped off the train as I like to call them the doubters, they’ve have a special place in my heart.”

‘The Gorilla’ continued, “You know when I am on like the treadmill and in the institute and it’s like I am running out me little shoes. And it is getting to like the 45th minute, and I’m thinking you can stop this 5 minutes before. And I am like not a chance. I am going to the 50-minute run that I set out to do….So you doubters, you got a special place in my heart.”
