Despite the Coca-Cola 600 being postponed to Monday due to rainy conditions, the organization paid tribute to fallen heroes. As the tradition goes, drivers donned the name of brothers-in-arms proudly printed on their cars. However, the Charlotte Motor Speedway was witnessed in a unique paint scheme that caught the attention of fans.

The North Carolina home crowd also was treated to a simple yet brilliant throwback when North Carolina’s own Michael Jordan’s NASCAR driver, Tyler Reddick, drove a fruity Blue Camry reminding the die-hard fans of the iconic Tar Heel College Basketball team.

While the exclusive livery for the race received heaps of hate online, NASCAR enthusiast and Kaulig Racing spotter, Brett Griffin blasted at the naysayers as he shared what the #45 Blue car with the prominent Jumpman logo on its hood meant for Michael Jordan fans and ardent racing fans alike.

Shortly after the race, the NASCAR community was served with another one of the super-popular Door Bumper Clear podcast wherein the 23Xl Racing spotter Freddie Kraft and his fellow spotters Brett Griffin and TJ Majors joined their co-host Casey Boat at the studio.

Following the eventful Coca-Cola 600, the group actively dived into the race happening as usual. Monday’s race also had Griffin with his 10-year-old son, Bode on the track as the youngster experienced the fast lane while hoping to catch the $2-billion-worth NBA great, Michael Jordan.

As soon as the conversation got to Bode, Griffin revealed the fanboy in him as he said, “Hey, listen! I’m a University of North Carolina diehard fan but I grew up in the 80s watching Michael Jordan play basketball and Jeff Lebo,” while he bashed the hate on Reddick’s car. He said, “To see that Jumpman car and the Air Jordan logo on that Carolina Blue car was freaking awesome. If you grew up in the South East or if you are in your 40s and love basketball like, how can you not look at that car and just go, ‘What an awesome, simple paint scheme?’” 

This had Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Kraft express his obvious disbelief, “I couldn’t believe the hate. Like I saw that scheme getting like tons of hate on the internet.” However, Griffin quickly dismantled such online media perks, and passed a judgment, “That’s people who dont understand branding.” While he explained the profound impact, “Look at how genius that Nike shoes is, look at how genius that pumpman brand is. Like you dont even need words.”

Griffin also shared the hilarious incident when his son met Bubba Wallace as he recalls the #23 driver ruining his son’s day.

The race itself had all the thrills and frills; the longest race of the schedule certainly did a lot more than just entertain the fans. The race was a runaway hit as it had a feel-good finish with a hell lot of action all over the track. The Memorial Day race event also had Griffin’s 10-year-old son, Bode visiting the track.

While the young MJ fan hoped to catch the NBA legend and the proud North Carolina Hornets owner, the youngster was quickly let down by MJ’s NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace who pulled the leg of the 10-year with a quick prank. Griffin explained the situation when he was hanging with Tyler Reddick.

He said, “So, Bubba walks up and Bubba and Bode were talking. And Bubba goes, ‘Hey! MJ’s here right?’ Bode’s eyesight up, he looks at me, he looks back at Bubba, Bubba goes, ‘I’m just messing with you’ and then he walked off.”

While Team Penske‘s Ryan Blaney took home the much-needed victory, ending his winless slump, the 23Xl Racing camp also had decent results as both the #23 car of Wallace and the Blue #45 Reddick’s car crossed the checkered flag fourth and fifth.
