“Bird With No Feathers” Kyle Busch Was Slammed in 7-Word Message By Tony Stewart During Hendrick Motorsports Period

It’s hard to imagine a NASCAR without Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch. Possibly the two drivers are most infamous for their temper and famous for their speed at the same time. Although the title of “rowdy” belongs to Busch, Stewart has had his fair share of rough antics in his racing career too.

But the three-time Cup Series champion was not very fond of the driver we now know as “Rowdy”.

Busch entered the cup series with Hendrick Motorsports in 2005. Naturally, making his debut in the top fleet of the cup series has bound to get a lot of eyes on him, and it sure did. Not just among fans, but even among drivers. On top of that, Busch also brought a rather questionable reputation on the track. He is renowned for causing wrecks and having a short fuse.

Funny enough, the other driver has a similar reputation. Tony Stewart was one of the first people to comment on the rookie, Kyle Busch. In a 2006 interview with Vault, the Stewart Haas Racing team’s owner commented, “He’s what we like to call a bird with no feathers. ¬†He just doesn’t know where he’s going.”

The two had their fair share of tussles over the course of their career. But alas, they grew quite a lot throughout the course of time, too.

But it seems Stewart’s unwelcoming attitude towards Busch didn’t ever change because he missed the golden opportunity to have a two-time cup series champion on his team.

Maybe Stewart never grew fond of Busch, because, after his long-standing owner Joe Gibbs Racing sacked him, SHR refused to pursue him. Despite Cole Custer leaving their team and opening a seat. Instead, they signed Ryan Preece.

Even Brett Griffin didn’t understand it as he said in a Dirty Mo Media podcast, “Like if I’m Stewart-Haas and I look at this driver change, I don’t understand why you didn’t go after a Kyle Bush. Or I know you were in a unique situation given your contract. But after a Tyler Reddick, like, if you want an ‘A’ guy in your car with this team historically has, i.e. had Kurt Bush. Like, Why are we, why are we in this situation?”

He added, “But Ryan Preece has four more starts in Cup than Cole Custer does. So 115 total starts. He has two top fives and nine top tens. Now I realize he hasn’t been in great stuff. But again, if we’re looking at this on paper. There ain’t a big upgrade. It’s not like you went from a ‘C’ guy to an ‘A’ guy. You went from a ‘C’ guy to a ‘C’ guy with potential.“
