The current offseason period has not held back some NASCAR drivers from participating in other racing events. Chase Elliott, for example, will take part in the prestigious dirt racing event named the Chili Bowl Nationals this month.
He previously participated in the Snowball Derby last December and expressed his intention to race in more such spectacles. Elliot now reveals what Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and NASCAR great Jeff Gordon made of his upcoming presence in the Chili Bowl.
Elliott stated, “He really didn’t have much to say about it, and I don’t think he knows a ton about that race in particular. But really nothing negative, I’ve obviously been upfront, and he knows about all of the things I wanna go do and this being one of them.”

Really wanted to take part in the Chili Bowl anyway, says Chase Elliott
“I think he knew too when Kyle (Larson) was coming along that this was happening. I assume that was the approach, or that was kind of expected in the beginning, so I really wanted to do that anyway and I’ve had a lot of interest in it,” Elliott added.
The 2020 Cup Series champion recently featured in the 2020 Snowball Derby, finishing third on the occasion. However, the 25-year-old also stated the importance of these races and how they impact his learning curve ahead of the Cup Series season as well.
“I’ve talked about it and two, I think Jeff as his role has increased at HMS over the years, I think he really understands the importance of racing more. And how that can help you on track on Sundays and I think he really, really understands that.”
“Mr. Hendrick seems to be good with that, so I can’t complain,” concluded Elliott in response to the subject.
Elliott’s teammate Kyle Larson will also be at the Chili Bowl
