Controversial Insider U Turns on His “Zero Consequences” Rant After Brad Keselowski Shut Him Down

Saturday’s race at Daytona was quite eventful considering the controversies revolving around it. On one hand, Denny Hamlin‘s podcast revealed how NASCAR had not allowed Michael McDowell to take a look at his seemingly damaged car. On another occurrence, the driver of the number 6 Ford put out a fire in his car by conjuring up a weird tactical move.

The latter escalated more than the others did. And that too, for good reasons. A NASCAR insider flipped sides while expressing his opinions about the incident. Initially, he thought that Brad Keselowski had done something that breached NASCAR regulations. However, moments later, he contradicted himself.

The owner of RFK Racing was leading the laps at Daytona when he smelled smoke. Although he did not see any fire, a red flag came out for obvious reasons. Now, the rule is that you cannot move your car under a red flag. However, Keselowski felt otherwise.

Brad Keselowski drove his Mustang in slow circles around the infield in an attempt to obliterate the fire. Although the in-car camera did not catch any instance of a visible fire, some smoke could be seen coming out of his car’s cabin.

NASCAR spotter and Door Bumper Clear crew member Brett Griffin tweeted, saying, “Sorry. Not sorry. We can’t just let the 6 do whatever he wants under a red flag with zero consequence. Technically, the move that Brad made calls for some kind of penalty. But he received none.

Strangely enough, Brett Griffin U-turned and said, “😂😂

You didn’t do anything I wouldn’t have done. You’re not who screwed up.”

Whether it helped Brad put out the fire is not clear, but the #6 speedster did everything he could in order to push his teammate Chris Buescher to bag his win.

In one of his tweets, he said, “The red in the ECU gets clearer with every second as the fire is going out and smoke dissipating… so I guess it’s not dumb if it works?!?!”

It did work, as the number 17 driver secured his third win of the season at Daytona. And his boss finished right after him.

In a recent episode of Door Bumper Clear, Brad Keselowski’s spotter explained why they let his action roll out as it did. He explained that they had a long stop coming and that they would lose their track position. Moreover, they might have needed to refuel.

When Casey Boat asked if NASCAR had said anything on the radio, T.J. Majors said, “No, by the time they got there, he had already put it out from driving around.”

Freddie Kraft then said sarcastically that he found it interesting because at Indianapolis he was spotting Landon Castle and they got parked for moving under a red flag.

“Why did you move?” asked Majors.

“It doesn’t matter,” retorted Kraft, “we were moving, you were moving…why does one get parked and one have no penalty whatsoever?”

T.J. Majors then admitted that it might have been because it was a question of Brad Keselowski’s safety at that point. However, Freddie would not let it go that easily and argued that there should have been some penalty.
