Ford Performance is surely taking steady steps toward rebounding and restoring its competitive streak in NASCAR. This was surely evident in both the races of the Truck Series and the Cup Series at Richmond, where the drivers either won the main event or won the pole, and not to forget that six of the top 10 finishing cars in the Cup Series were under the Ford banner.

A similar result was also expected from NASCAR’s lower series, the Craftsman Truck Series, as Ty Majeski from ThorSport Racing seized the pole for Friday’s race at the tracks of Richmond. However, it seemed that the poor execution of the strategies seemed to languish the notion of victory, and owing to this, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin snubbed the Blue Oval manufacturing team and tried to satiate his defeat on the tracks of Richmond.

Denny Hamlin lays bare his criticisms of their rival manufacturer

The race in Richmond was lackluster, without any major incidents to grab the audience’s attention. However, what came as a surprise for many was the emphatic win by Chris Buescher, securing a berth in the playoffs.

The RFK Racing driver sped past JGR’s Denny Hamlin and held him to the last bits of the race in order to secure his first victory of the season. The victory certainly did not settle well with the runner-up, Denny Hamlin, as he tried to tear apart Ford by drawing the instance of how it faltered in the Truck Series on the same track, especially after winning the pole.

While Ford is hopeful that it will be able to turn the tables in the upcoming season, especially when Josh Berry joins the camp of SHR, Hamlin, on the contrary, considers it otherwise.

In the latest episode of Actions Detrimental, Hamlin expressed, “It was exciting. We had a lot of first-time winners potentially. Justin and our guy were all in the final couple of laps of battle. It was awesome to see, it was really fun as a fan to watch that. Definitely talking about the truck races, Ty Majeski […]”

The 3x Daytona winner also added, “I am watching him and it’s been a very long time since I have seen a vehicle that dominates over the field. I can’t remember the last time when the one was 4-10s, half a second faster than the field in the long run faster, but even in the traffic he was dramatically faster than the field so he tried to throw away with the speeding penalty”

“He tried to get away with the speeding penalty and he comes back, he is going to come through so quickly and he starts catching the sequence for green flag pit stops.”

Majeski, who had a clear shot at winning the race, stumbled to get the checkered flag after he was slammed with the penalty for speeding on the pit road. Majeski was forced to fall back in the pack, and it was Carson Hocevar who notched the victory. Due to this fact, Denny Hamlin continued his caustic commentary on the team’s strategy. 

Denny Hamlin added, “I know that you are counting on what he is good at in the long run, so we are going to be long or not pit, but he is so much faster than the field, he is only a couple of seconds behind, Carson Hocevar, when he starts these sequences, as a race team how can we lose it? We can lose it on strategy, we can lose it by making mistakes, they did both and they lost […]”

“I know it’s easy to say, because we lost, you just have to think about what will take us out and manage the two things to take them out of winning the race, which is a bummer for Ty,” Hamlin concluded.

With that being said, it is to be seen what the OEM manufacturer does in order to improve its performance, especially for the next season when Josh Berry takes his seat as a Ford driver.
