Kyle Larson is one of the most active motorsport drivers. It is no secret that the 30-year-old is immensely passionate about both stock car and dirt track racing. The Hendrick Motorsports driver certainly enjoys his time driving outside NASCAR. While that is possible for him, not everyone else is that lucky.

Larson recently came out backing fellow NASCAR driver Christopher Bell. Like Larson, even Bell is fond of such extra-curricular activities but the Joe Gibbs Racing driver was denied to do so by Joe Gibbs. On the contrary, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion recently explained how these activities helped him develop certain skills as a driver.

Kyle Larson stresses on the skills developed

Kyle recently appeared on Crey LaJoie’s podcast “Stacking Pennies.” When asked about how driving different cars other than Cup Series ones has come of great help, the NASCAR driver said, “I don’t know I think they all have their differences and I think they all internally help each other. I would say a Sprint car to me is more helpful for like you know the majority of races and about a half.

“So I think racing about a half is like racing a half a mile for a wing sprint car. The dirty air stuff was pretty similar, you know with the wing you always had like peak out left and it’s a little bit less of that on the Cup car but understanding dirty air on a wing sprint car I felt like it helped.”

He adds, “All of it, late model and sprint cars are just double fire restarts too. It teaches you ultra aggression, you know, for 30 laps to 50 laps races, so I think that part helps a lot.” Given Kyle’s statements, Christopher Bell is surely missing out on a great chance in enhancing his skillset.

Seeing the scenario at Joe Gibbs Racing, Kyle Larson remains one lucky driver to get his ambitions outside NASCAR to come true. The fact that Hendrick Motorsports allowed him to do so speaks volumes of the backing they have provided. Interestingly, it took some convincing by Larson to convince owner Rick Hendrick to make it happen.
