On one hand, the playoff finisher at Martinsville was a feast for Ford fans, but on the flip side, it was a famine for Toyota. The Japanese manufacturer lost 3 of its top drivers in the elimination and that includes Joe Gibbs Racing‘s veteran duo of Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin along with 23XI Racing‘s Tyler Reddick.

With NASCAR’s newly proclaimed “villain” getting brutally knocked out of the tournament, NASCAR veteran and Dirty Mo Media founder, Dale Earnhardt Jr had a lot to process.

In fact, the 2-time Daytona winner was caught in a dilemma, wondering how the outspoken veteran, Hamlin’s emotional state would be as he returns to the studio floor for the weekly dose of Actions Detrimental. Will the JGR veteran continue his obligation? Well, Dale Jr’s long-time friend had the perfect answer to it. Let us hear it out.

Dale Earnhardt Jr has a predicament about Hamlin & Action Detrimental’s future

Weeks after lauding this would be his year, Hamlin‘s knockout from the tournament just goes off to show how unpredictable the sport can be at times. Despite having a well-rounded season with consistent performances, Hamlin succumbed to the point game as the veteran’s hopes of advancing into the final 4 fell apart in Martinsville.

Even though the Toyotas had an exceptional track record at the half-a-mile track, the #11 just couldn’t close the gap as the Fords put on a show, outclassing the Japanese manufacturer. Moreover, Hamlin is a seasoned veteran of the sport with more than 50 wins to his name and close to 2 decades of experience in Stock Car racing’s top division. However, a championship title has long eluded the driver and history repeated itself when Hamlin went out without seeing the final fray for the title, making him wait for another season.

In the wake of this agonizing aspect of the #11 driver, Dale Jr asked his co-host and manager Mike Davis, “My question is that: Denny like podcasting this year? Is Denny going to do his show again next year?” To which Davis said, “Yes.” But the JRM co-owner’s dilemma doesn’t end there. 

He asked his friend, “I wonder how Denny was feeling about having to go and do his podcast right now because the last 24 hours have been pretty miserable for him and I know he is a moody a** race car driver just like I was, you know it was when things weren’t going good or something bad happened on Sunday, you think I was gonna go do a podcast midnight?”

Davis being the veteran’s long-time associate, truly opened his mind as he offered a different perspective. He said, “No, I dont think you and Denny are the same people. Denny needs an outlet, if Denny doesn’t have a podcast as we remember from last year, Denny’s just gonna go put those opinions out somewhere else.”

For one, Dale Jr’s thoughts are pretty fair. After all, nobody wants to be in a studio talking, rambling about his day for 1 hour right after a disastrous campaign. But not, Denny Hamlin. Following the Martinsville tragedy, Hamlin returned to his Action Detrimental podcast studio joined by his co-host Jared Allen.

Despite coming short while he has done his best, Hamlin isn’t taking a step back. The veteran was pretty straightforward when he was asked about the depressing fallout. He said, “Sure, I’ll be at Phoenix this weekend,” in his typical attitude. He then went on to thank the fans for making this a fun ride.

He added, “It’s been a fun ride. I’m not sending any other subliminal messages. I’m just saying it’s been a really fun ride. The fans have been passionate about me all year long; I appreciate that. It’s been fun for me. I appreciate the noise, I really do. I thought by far this weekend, more #11 gear than I’ve ever seen. By far.”

Things might not have turned out positive for #11, but that doesn’t mean the veteran is giving up hope just yet. Looks like Denny is ready to pick up the broken pieces of his Championship dream and gear up for the next season!
