Kyle Busch, one of the most prominent and respected figures in NASCAR, not only races for Richard Childress Racing in the Cup Series but also fields a team in the Truck Series. Boasting two championships, his team has been a formidable contender in the Truck Series. With their impressive 2023 package, it appears that the rest of the grid should be on high alert throughout the year.

Recently, during a press conference in Dover, a journalist posed an intriguing question to Busch regarding Chase Purdy’s development. The journalist highlighted Purdy’s impressive achievement of securing as many top-ten finishes this year as he did over the past two years combined with other teams.

Curious about Busch’s perspective as the owner of Kyle Busch Motorsports, the journalist asked him to share his observations on Purdy’s progress during the first third of the year.

Busch responded, “Yeah, I have been excited about that. With Chase, and Jack (Wood) and (Nick) Sanchez, they all had a shot to win Atlanta. They were all running up front in the top three, top four. It was really cool, and I was hoping we were going to get into victory lane. But unfortunately, circumstances just didn’t work out there at the end on that last lap.

“Purdy has done a good job. He went to Vegas and was smooth and consistent and ran in the top 10. Texas was a little more of a struggle where he ran 10th to 12th, but finished 10th. Where Sanchez was dominating that race, leading that race.

“So, there are still some things we can work on to help those guys be better and get better. Top 10s are great, but being upfront and contending for wins is what it’s all about and where he wants to be. I know he has been working hard at that.”

“Him and Jimmy Villeneuve, they have built a good working relationship thus far. It’s exciting to see that as well as all the drivers and crew chiefs at our place. It’s going real well,” he concluded.

Chase Purdy has demonstrated remarkable potential as part of the KBM outfit in the NASCAR Truck Series. In the recent Martinsville Truck race, Purdy achieved an impeccable top-10 finish, despite starting from the back of the field due to unapproved adjustments found on his car.

Since joining KBM for the 2023 season, Purdy has already secured four top-10 finishes across seven starts. Before his time at KBM, the promising driver had managed only five top-10 finishes in a total of 51 career starts.

Purdy ranks 10th in the Truck Series points standings. Although, trailing 127 points behind Ty Majeski. With just nine races left before the playoffs commence, Purdy currently occupies the 11th spot on the playoff grid. Though, he’d only require 11 more points to get himself latched into the playoffs. KBM fans will be hoping to see him excel during his time with the team in the rest of the races.
