Here’s an update on Kyle Busch and his potential new sponsors! Fans across the globe are excited for their favorite ‘Rowdy’ Busch to start his new NASCAR journey in 2023. And after leaving Joe Gibbs Racing, the two-time Cup Series champion has narrowed down his team choices to Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and 23XI Racing.

According to reports shared by The Athletic, Richard Childress Racing is likely to sign Kyle Busch for 2023. However, the cost of onboarding 2021’s highest-paid driver might prove to be too exorbitant for the team. And apparently, the press conference announced by Kyle Busch Motorsports at 10 am ET tomorrow, will announce his next move.

Moreover, as per Sports Business Journal, many of RCR’s sponsors have expressed their interest in working with Kyle Busch. However, since RCR is a team with just two cars at the moment, adding in a third one might cost around $15 million annually to achieve the break even point.

RCR will have to find a way to add in a third vehicle and manage funds to run the new car and pay Kyle Busch his salary. At present, the whole venture seems to cost more than $20 million. And owing to NASCAR’s structured chartered system, it currently seems to be a financially unwise decision.

However, RCR does have another choice. The team’s #8 driver Tyler Reddick had earlier announced his willingness to join 23XI Racing in 2024. If RCR chooses to arrive at an agreement and buy off Reddick’s 2023 contract, then there are chances of Busch’s onboarding working out better.

If Tyler’s buyout agreement works, Busch can join RCR in 2023. But all of these are conjectures at the moment and hopefully tomorrow’s press conference can clear up the course of actions that RCR is willing to take in the future.

Why is Kyle Busch leaving Joe Gibbs Racing?

Kyle Busch has had a successful 15 year old stint with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). However, in 2022, Busch is in the final year of his contract with the team, whereas, JGR has not been able to bag a primary sponsor for 2023 for him.

Hence, with an uncertain future, Busch began entering in talks with other teams. 23XI Racing and Richard Childress Racing have been the front-runners on his list. Although Busch was willing to accept a pay-cut and continue with JGR, a lack of sponsorship did not allow him to stay with the team.

Talking about the situation, Busch revealed; “I don’t think money has ever been the objective or the issue. Obviously, I know where the sport’s landscape is. I know what’s happening. And I’ve accepted (taking a pay cut). And have told everybody that. I’m trying to see where all that lies.”

However, no negotiations with JGR worked, and now Busch is willing to accept an offer from Richard Childress Racing. Currently Bass Pro Shops, Lenovo, Coca-Cola, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, and 3Chi are RCR’s major sponsors.
