Jimmie Johnson is a star not new to the limelight. With the New year set in and NASCAR’s upcoming season, there is a lot of buzz around. JJ just added to all the fun. Petty GMS took to their Twitter account and posted a video with the caption, “Big day in NYC tomorrow, @JimmieJohnson will join the @TODAYshow at 9:30 am ET to tell you all about it! @TODAYshow.” In the video posted by Petty GMS, Jimmie said, “Hey everybody, I’m here in New York City. I have a huge day tomorrow, something I’m very excited about and I think you all want to tune in and see. I will be on the TODAY show tomorrow around 9:30 am and hope you have a chance to tune in and see all the exciting news.”

After spending two decades with Hendrick Motorsports, in 2023 the seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson got back to NASCAR. He has returned as a part-time driver and part-owner for Petty GMS Motorsports. As per sources, he will be competing in five Cup Series races this year, beginning with racing at Daytona 500 scheduled in February. However, it is anticipated that Jimmie Johnson will be the busiest part-time driver in NASCAR this year. With the world evolving, it looks like he has a lot of catching up to do.

The Next-Gen car was introduced around the same time when JJ took a break in 2020, retiring from his full-time career. So his time will be invested in his role as a driver to other responsibilities that come along with being a part-owner at Petty GMS. He will be spending some time getting to know the new NASCAR technology before the season begins. All of his experience and other contributions will be of great use to his new team. This will also be equally important for the next-generation racers of Petty GMS to level up their game. It certainly looks like there is a lot of work going on behind the curtains.
