Talladega, Dover, and Darlington. All these 3 cup races had a common underlying theme to them. It was Ross Chastain! The Trackhouse Racing star’s name has been etched onto separate incidents from these tracks for all the wrong reasons. So much so that, when the driver furiously pushed into his rival, Kyle Larson at Darlington, even Hendrick Motorsports’ boss, who is known for his calm, came out with sharp words.

Recently, Chastain has revealed that he had several calls with his boss, Justin Marks, with Chevrolet and even with his rival, Kyle Larson.

Despite both Chevy drivers ruining each other’s race, going full steam, it was Chastain’s reckless attitude that has garnered quite a backlash from his fellow drivers. Confirming his conversation with Mr. H, the #1 driver said, “I feel really good, I’ll keep [having] those conversations.”

After his chaotic run, Ross Chastain briefs his conversation with Boss Rick Hendrick

For the last few weeks, the #1 driver has been the talk of the town in NASCAR. While his careless and cutthroat approach has earned him quite a number of haters in the community, the sheer excitement and rawness the driver brings to the tracks has actually garnered him some support from veterans as well.

Although he has had run-ins with the HMS speedster earlier, Darlington topped the list. Both Kyle Larson and Chastain went at it with full intensity. And things quickly got heated when Chastain tried to push Larson to the wall. Larson, however, retaliated, wrecking the #1 Chevy, ending his race.

This recent episode between the two may be the last nail in the coffin as Chastain is under heavy pressure from his boss and their partners, especially the equipment suppliers. Chastain briefed about the conversation as he mentioned his surreal experience.

NASCAR journalist, Bob Pockrass tweeted a short clip where we heard Chastain say, I called Rick, yeah that was not the reason I want to be calling him but it’s not the first time we talked and I don’t think it will be the last, so one day I hope I’m able to laugh with him bout it but look is still crazy for me, that Rick Hendrick knows my name, although right now it is for wrong reasons.”

Further, the Alva native added, We talked about other things, other than just Darlington and he had some really really good you know just life advice, and uh a guy like that to even take my call and uh talk to me, it’s not the first time but its really it’s still surreal for me.”

This is not the first time Rick Hendrick has connected with the 30-year-old. And in case you are unaware, Trackhouse Racing’s current race shop is actually owned by Hendrick and there are quite intriguing backstories to it.

For the unversed, Trackhouse Racing does not have an independent supply of equipment. Instead, the team chose to source parts from Richard Childress Racing and Hendrick Motorsports. And Chastain’s recent debacle may have pushed his team’s partners to the edge. As reported by Racingnews.com, the rapper Pitbull co-owned team bought the personnel and equipment from Chip Ganassi Racing, and not the building.

The team just bought out the personnel and equipment from CGR. The 22-acre property where the CGR team’s NASCAR side operated was actually bought by an LLC with the same address as Hendrick Automotive Group in Charlotte for 10.2 Million back in Sept 2021.
