While the racing community is awaiting the epic showdown at Indianapolis Motor Speedway a few weeks later this month, popular YouTuber and former football punter, Pat McAfee has upped the antics by bringing the proud Indiana native Tony Stewart to his show. This week’s Pat McAfee show features the 3-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Tony “Smoke” Stewart as a special guest.

Tweeting out a short clip in an effort to tease the fandom, McAfee was seconds away from disaster when his co-host tried to shame the legend. While his co-host tried to slip in a jab, subtly mocking Stewart, McAfee strongly barred him as he issued a bold warning.

While NASCAR’s Cup Series heads to the iconic Indy road course at Indiana Motor Speedway for the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard on August 13th, US Nationals, the NHRA event is also geared up and so is Tony Stewart. Stewart won the NHRA national event, his first-ever drag event this year, and is all set and go for the US nationals at his hometown in Indiana.

Promoting the event alongside the home NFL team, Indiana Colts, Stewart dropped down to the popular The Pat McAfee Show. With the 52-year-old NASCAR greatly joining the eccentric YouTuber, the scene was set for a one-of-a-kind go-cart race with the IndyCar, NASCAR, and NHRA champion.

Excited to have the champ on the show, McAfee did not hide his enthusiasm when he said, “I mean we have a real, we have a real race that we are about to do obviously we’re going to record it and we’ll release the video, we’re pumped for it but anytime somebody comes to our office we’re like, wanna do something? And normally it’s a yes and Tony Smoke Stewart is coming in he‘ll do something, yeah go to race him, got to race him.”

However, his co-host seemed to like playing with fire as he shot a subtle jab at Stewart trying to body-shame him when Pat McAfee said, “But what I know is I’m 255 pounds, I dont know how much Smoke weighs,” to which his co-host acting like a cowboy said, “Smoke might be there.” 

McAfee quickly rose to the occasion, putting the cowboy in his place, saying, “Watch your tongue, I’m telling him you said that, he’s not 250. He’s probably like 220, he’s 5’9, he’s like a stockier guy, obviously ready for whatever he needs.”

For ardent racing fans, Tony Stewart is one name that needs no introduction. The man transitioned from IndyCar to NASCAR, tearing through the competition like a hot knife through butter. His accolades speak for themselves. He is a 3-time NASCAR Cup Series champ and one among the few who successfully completed the notorious “double,” racing back to back across IndyCar and NASCAR.

While the Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner has his eyes currently set on the drag strip, trying his luck in the NHRA, he is also busy with his own Stock Car Racing promotion; the Superstar Racing Experience(SRX). Promoting the US Nationals in his home state, Stewart had a brief media day where he stopped by the Indy Colts training camp.

While the veteran felt “sketchy,” about racing a fast go-cart on a parking lot, he has high hopes of bringing in the crowd to the NHRA event, saying, “Well it’s pretty cool when you’re in Indy, there’s so many things that encompass Indianapolis and obviously being in the (Indiana) Colts training camp and get to come out here meet the coach, see the players working out and get to promote the US Nationals, its pretty cool for all us, I mean we’re definitely here because we’re so excited about the US Nationals, it’s the granddaddy of them all in drag racing.”
