Is basketball the only sport LeBron James excelled in? Well, no. He had a strong love for football in high school. He played as a wide receiver and performed exceptionally well. His football prowess shone brightly, earning his first-team all-state honors as early as his sophomore year, and he even led his team to the state semifinals in the subsequent season.

Although LeBron eventually shifted his focus to basketball and embarked on his remarkable NBA journey, he’s never let go of his love for football. Recently, LeBron has been in the spotlight alongside the new Colorado head coach, Deion Sanders, a former Hall of Fame cornerback. Something revolutionary took place in college football!

Colorado Buffaloes had been struggling. In December, Sanders took on the challenge of revitalizing the team. It was his debut in college football as a coach. He completed the roster overhaul, retaining just 10 scholarship players from the previous year and adding more than 60 new scholarship players. Although his methods faced criticism from some within the sport, the recent outcome speaks for itself.

Colorado won a stunning victory, defeating the 17th-ranked TCU with a score of 45-42 last Saturday. This marks Deion Sanders’ inaugural Power Five triumph. The second half was nothing short of chaos, featuring 56 combined points. However, Colorado had the last word, making a crucial stop late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Fanboying over Sanders, LeBron James posted one of Sanders’ snippets where he slyly mentions all the doubters he faced through the last few months. James posted a series of visuals after the game, one of them being a brief clip by ‘Uninterrupted’ on his Instagram story, in light of appreciating the Hall of Famer. LeBron James wrote, “Coach Prime has receipts.”

In the clip, Sanders was heard saying, “We told you we coming. You thought we was joking. And guess what, we keep receipts.”

This win has come after they were initially labeled as the “worst team” in college football. In fact, last year, Colorado lost games by almost a margin of 29.1 points which is considered the worst in the country and the fourth-worse within the Power 5 programs in the past 30 years.

There’s no denying Deion Sanders’ legendary status in NFL history as one of the greatest defensive players. While he showcased versatility in various roles, he is most renowned as a cornerback, with a remarkable talent for deflecting and intercepting passes. His exceptional skills have earned him two Super Bowl rings during his time: the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Paul George and other NBA stars appreciate Sanders for creating history

In his coaching debut, Sanders’ team faced off against TCU from Fort Worth. Deion and the Buffs were predicted to be the underdogs, projected to lose the matchup. Following their surprising victory in the college football season opener, NBA stars like Paul George, Trae Young, and others extended their congratulations to the coach.

Notably, Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, had an exceptional performance as their quarterback. He achieved the remarkable feat of setting a school record for the most passing yards in a single game.

Shedeur made history as the first player in the team’s annals to surpass 500 passing yards. He completed 38 out of 47 attempts and delivered four touchdowns. In fact, the team had four 100-yard receivers for the first time: Hunter, Edwards, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Xavier Weaver. Colorado outgained TCU 565-541 total yards. Surely, all of this combined would have impressed LeBron James too.
