The NBA is a league that thrives on statistics, and fans love to delve into the numbers to compare players and teams. The fresh comparison started lately between Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls. Both drafted in 2009, the duo has vastly different playing styles. Curry has revolutionized the game with his long-range shooting. His ability to stretch defenses beyond what was previously imaginable altered how teams strategize both offensively and defensively. DeRozan on the other hand is known for his mid-range prowess and relentless scoring. He has carved out a successful career without relying heavily on the 3-point shot.

Despite their contrasting styles of play, the points disparity between the two is narrow. This surprising similarity recently caught the attention of NBA Twitter.

A recent Twitter post comparing the duo’s careers sparked lively debates among fans. Despite having launched over twice as many threes as DeRozan (3,390 vs 1,566), Curry‘s total career points stand at 21,712 close to DeRozan’s tally of 21,685. Curry has made 3,390 3-pointers from 7,929 attempts in 882 games, while DeRozan has made only 456 from 1,566 attempts in 1,031 games.

These figures become even more intriguing when considering that Curry played fewer games due to injuries (882 GP for Steph against Demar’s 1,031 GP).

But the fact that DeRozan has nearly matched Curry’s career points without relying on the 3-point shot proves his scoring ability and consistency.

The comparison started a lively debate

Fans have been quick to react to this statistic, with many expressing their surprise and admiration for DeRozan.

One fan pointed out DeRozan’s durability, noting that he has missed very few games in his career.
