Throughout NBA history, there have been many legendary teams that have left their mark on the sport. From the dominant Chicago Bulls of the 1990s to the powerhouse Lakers led by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, the league has seen its fair share of formidable teams. Yet, some argue that the Golden State Warriors of the mid-2010s may have been the most dominant team in NBA history.

The Warriors roster consisted of four guaranteed Hall-of-Famers, namely Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. This Dubs team won three NBA titles in a span of four seasons. They have firmly established themselves in NBA folklore. And according to Draymond Green, the mid-2010s Warriors team was “the greatest of all-time.” In the latest episode of Club 520, Draymond even stated that the Warriors were even better than the Shaq and Kobe led Lakers side. He said, “I think that (mid-2010s Warriors) was the greatest team of all-time… My only thing with the 01 Lakers team, I think we had a better team overall.”

Although the Warriors were a formidable force, the Lakers led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant were near unbeatable in the playoffs. Led by the coaching brilliance of Phil Jackson, the Lakers completed a three-peat from 2000 to 2002. However, their roster was plagued by internal conflicts and ego clashes between Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. Something had to give, and after the 2003-04 season, Shaq decided to leave the Lakers and join the Miami Heat. Although the early-2000s Lakers team ended on a sour note, the Warriors dynasty still have a chance to bow out on a high.

Can the Warriors make an improbable comeback?

The Warriors have failed to live up to the lofty standards they have set for themselves this season. For a fanbase who has witnessed their team win four NBA titles in the last nine seasons, the 2023-24 season has been a massive disappointment up until now. They currently languish in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, with 27 wins from 53 games.
