One of the biggest blockbuster trades took place a few days ago. The Portland Trail Blazers traded Damian Lillard away to the Milwaukee Bucks. This was a three-team trade that involved the Phoenix Suns as well and a lot of players ended up getting traded from their long-time teams. One such player was Jrue Holiday.

Jrue Holiday was traded away to the Portland Trail Blazers only to be traded once again to the Boston Celtics. And with the constant movement and being uprooted from Milwaukee, Holiday’s wife Lauren slams Bucks management over it.

Jrue Holiday spent the last three years as the starting point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks. He was a crucial part of the recent Bucks championship run, bringing a good balance of both offense and defense.

But after Milwaukee received Damian Lillard, they no longer needed Holiday’s services and traded him away. Holiday had expressed his desire to spend the rest of his remaining career with the Bucks.

And after Holiday was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, Jrue’s wife Lauren went on to speak out her mind. In a recent article by MilwaukeeJournalSentinel, Lauren Holiday opened up about leaving Milwaukee after her husband got traded.

She certainly wasn’t happy and labeled this move as ‘personal,’ despite the norm being that ‘it’s business.’ Lauren Holiday went on to mention how Jrue did not get a warning, a heads-up or even a conversation breaking the news to him.

Lauren Holiday expressed her views on how it would’ve been better if these types of decisions weren’t protected by the ‘business side of things.’ Also how if humans were not treated as commodities.

Lauren also said, “Imagine if we didn’t just put Dollar signs on athletes.”

Are the Holidays in the right?

Blockbuster trades like this one where unexpected players are traded away often get labeled as ‘part of the business’ by franchises. This is exactly what happened with DeMar DeRozan when he was traded away from the Toronto Raptors.

So, Lauren’s feelings are justified in slamming the franchise for moving on from their players so easily as soon as a better offer comes along. Hopefully, now Holiday goes on to win another championship before hanging his sneakers for good.

And with the way the Boston Celtics have revamped their roster, it may be more than just hope for Holiday as they might go all the way.
