Caitlin Clark has become a household name almost as fast as LeBron James or Stephen Curry. And it’s no surprise. At a time when the non-traditional hoopers identified themselves with Curry, there comes along a girl from Des Moines, Iowa, giving Steph a run for his money. Clark has been phenomenal, and even that would be an understatement. But now, with many comparisons being drawn to ‘Chef Curry’ himself, whether Caitlin is better than Steph has been a major topic of discussion. And it seems like Draymond Green has thoughts along similar lines and an answer.

Giving the 22-year-old PG her due flowers, Green poses whether Clark is the best offensive college player ever in The Draymond Green Show. He proceeds to answer it. “I saw Steph Curry play in college. He was somethin’ else. Needless to say, Caitlin is a problem… she’s going to be really good at WNBA right away; because of the way she shoots the ball, the way she passes the ball… she can take on double teams…”

No one would contest Green on that. In fact, every basketball enthusiast around the world, even Luka Doncic recently could not help but compare the two players. Just a few days ago, we heard comments coming in from Doncic after the Iowa-LSU game, saying, “[She’s] the women’s Steph Curry. She can shoot it better than me”. Some fans are even going ahead to call her a reincarnated version of Steph.

Clark is currently averaging 32 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 9 assists. She’s able to break all-time women’s single-season NCAA 3-pointer records with 540 threes in 137 games in her college career with Iowa so far. Her shooting range is incredible, and an awful lot similar to Curry’s. In fact, she even managed to break his record in NCAA basketball history for the number of 3-pointers shot. With 3,900 career points (as of April 1, 2024) she’s managing to bring unprecedented attention to Iowa’s women’s basketball program. She has a lengthy resume as proof of that. And if this wasn’t enough, she even added another Naismith Player of the Year award right ahead of the Final Four weekend.

She’s someone a team can harness to win accolades, whether she’s in NCAA or in her future capacity in the WNBA. Draymond Green, and probably others too, understand this. Which is why Green could not help but further give advice on how Indiana Fever can get better if they seek the right amount of help from Clark.

Draymond Green’s word of advice for Caitlin Clark

The Indiana Fever are the frontrunners to bag Caitlin Clark. And when they do, she will be playing alongside players like Aliyah Boston who are only too happy to take on double teams. While Clark’s ability to shoot, pass the ball, and involve the players is great, Indiana also needs to understand how to “make complete use of her abilities”.

For instance, Green says that if he were the Fever, he’d be looking at the film of the Warriors. Note how they would double-team the non-shooters or how the defense would react to Caitlin Clark. According to the 2017 DPOY, these are the things to keep an eye out for when a team has someone like the 2x Naismith Player of the Year on their side, among her other achievements.

Well, that is some sound advice. But no one would expect anything less from a 4x champion with 12 years of experience in the competitive environment that the NBA is. As for the 3x NCAA season scoring leader, all that’s left to adorn her impressive college resume is a championship. Hopefully, this will be the season that the Iowa Hawkeyes can clinch that title.
