Punished For Touching A Ref, Draymond Green’s Lack Of Awareness Is Exasperating As Per Popular Warriors Show

Draymond Green got his fourth ejection of the season in tonight’s Warriors vs Magic game. The Dubs managed to overpower Orlando 101-93, but the entire atmosphere was deemed stressful. And that’s putting it mildly. At a time when Green’s presence is necessary for the team, for him to get tossed out for touching and arguing with a ref seems a little too inconsiderate.
Kerith Burke and Zena Keita, Bay Area reporters, also seem to have a similar line of thought. Getting together to discuss the Warriors’ performance tonight, Keita had a clear idea of what Dray was lacking. The Santa Cruz Warriors’ sideline reporter gave her reasons for Stephen Curry‘s reaction to Green’s ejection.
“You have all the talent in the world in Draymond Green,” she says. “And you are seeing him make decisions out of true passion for the game, but also a lack of awareness of how that passion can reach a level that negatively impacts his team.”

She further says that the 34-year-old needs to have an understanding of his “threshold”. A threshold that was set for him by the league and the refs, because of his actions this season. Green does indeed have a history of violent outbursts and physical altercations, but none of them come close to what happened throughout this season.

Draymond’s inability to keep himself in check also happened to be the season that the Warriors dynasty kept falling down the ladder. Keita calls Green a “superstar,” and he is, in every aspect. Everybody knows that when someone like Dray takes the floor, it makes the whole team better. The man in question knows that. But every time he fails to rein in his actions puts him that much closer to being a liability than an asset.
“They do something that ultimately decreases their positive impact and cancels it out. And that’s what happens with Draymond,” Keita clarifies. “When you’re able to do as well as you do for this team, then you have moments like that… it’s exasperation.”

The fact that the 4x All-Star knows this very well and doesn’t keep these things in mind, or at least at the back of his mind when engaging in on-court scuffles with refs or players, leaves the rest of the team exasperated. Pretty much all that anyone is left with is to shake their head and pray to avoid a full-blown breakdown.
