Surpassing 28,000 Points, Kevin Durant Could Soon Leave 2 NBA Legends in the Dust in All-Time Scoring List

Kevin Durant and his balling supremacy continue to shine this season. Tonight, the Phoenix Suns superstar surpassed 28,000 points, and made a strong footing in the 10th spot of the All-Time scoring leaderboard. The Suns took on the Orlando Magic at the Kia Center and KD dropped 15 points against the defensively brilliant Magic side. With that effort, he went on to become the 10th player in the history of NBA to score 28,000+ points.
Currently, The Slim Reaper has 28,003 points against his name. And with more games left in the season, he could push down two more legends and rack up to the 8th spot. Durant had scored 26, 892 points before the start of the season and managed to score 1,111 points in 39 games averaging 28.5 PPG. With over 40 games left in the season, the 35-year-old can push down Shaquille O’Neal and Carmelo Anthony in the scoring leader board.

Apart from Kevin Durant, only Shaq and Melo are in the 28K range. While Melo has 28,289 and Shaq has 28,596, Durant requires 600 odd points to move up to the eighth spot on the ladder. Notably, the Suns superstar’s personal record for most points scored in a season came in during his 3rd season in the league. He dropped 2,472 points in 82 games during his times with the OKC Thunder.
Moreover, he has scored above 2000 points five times in his career. And with that, he could shake up the ladder in the years to come. If he thrives longer in the league, he can even chase down King James.
Apart from crossing the 28K points, he also claimed up the All-Time 3PM ladder as well. Tonight, he dropped his 1951st three-point to pull down JJ Reddick and reached the 19th spot.

LeBron James – KD comparison
Both superstars began their career at the age of 18 and both were mounted with hype. Fortunately, they both lived up to the hype. Initially, James struggled to win a chip for Cavs and similarly, KD struggled for the Thunder, despite being the best.
Moreover, in terms of the overall points, KD missed out on the opportunity because of a season-ending injury. Even though James has already proved his prowess, it’s unfair to compare the players. Draymond Green recently compared the duo in his podcast show. He said, “LeBron is going to get to the bucket, he’s going to get to the cup. He’s going to get it done, but people always say KD is the greatest scorer of all time. You could make that argument.”
