The NBA world was wonderstruck in 2017 when Kevin Durant decided to join the Golden State Warriors. Considered to be one of the best scorers in the league, everyone knew the Warriors would be unstoppable. And rightfully so, given the amount of talent, they already had on the team’s roster.

This four-time NBA champion who spent substantial time with Stephen Curry and the Warriors reveals how the effect of adding Kevin Durant to the roster was. And it does not come off as a surprise.

After spending nine seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Durant decided to join forces with Stephen Curry and the rest of the squad. And the move did not disappoint as the Warriors went on to win back-to-back championships.

Now, according to the New York Post, former Warriors veteran and four-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala revealed the effect the team had when KD came on board. While he was on the Par 3 Podcast, Iguodala went on to discuss the ease Durant brought with him.

He said, “Practice was only like 20 minutes.” He also went on to add, “Practice was nothing. I would get to the gym around 8:30, eat breakfast, then at 9, I’m lifting weights. At 10 I get on the court and do all my work. Shooting, conditioning, I do everything I need to do.”

What could’ve been if KD stayed

The Golden State Warriors had just come off losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. A year prior to that, the Warriors had won a championship. But when Kevin Durant came to the team, nobody in the league had any doubts about who would go on to win it all.

The Warriors dynasty had already started to form and the addition of Durant only solidified it more. The team won two titles back to back and KD won his first two Finals MVPs as well. No wonder the rest of the guys were so eased up after Durant’s arrival.

But eventually, internal squashes led to the departure of Kevin Durant, putting a dent in the Warriors dynasty. It does make one wonder how far the Warriors would’ve gone if Durant hadn’t left.
