They all came together for an iconic interview hosted by Ahmad Rashad for ESPN in 2004. It is arguably one of the best interviews ever given by so many sporting icons at one time.

During the show, the superstars discussed a variety of interesting topics. In one instance, Roy Jones Jr. talked about a time he got furious because someone disrespected Michael Jordan. The six-time champion couldn’t help but laugh at the story.

Roy Jones Jr. is considered to be one of the greatest boxers ever. He has won multiple world championships in four weight classes including middleweight,?super middleweight,?light heavyweight, and?heavyweight. Notably, Jones Jr. is the only boxer in history to start at?light middleweight and then win the heavyweight title. He also won a silver medal while representing the United States in the 1988 Olympics.

Despite all the success, he is a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls legend. So when someone disrespected MJ, the boxing great didn’t take it lightly.

Roy Jones Jr. is a huge fan of Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan helped popularize the game of basketball with his dominance. He took the league by storm as soon as he joined the Chicago Bulls?in 1984. However, success was hard to come by in the initial years despite his individual brilliance. Later on, things fell into the right place, and MJ and the Bulls soon became unstoppable.

One of the main pieces of the puzzle was fellow Hall of Famer?Scottie Pippen. Without him, it arguably wouldn’t have been possible for the Bulls to have won six titles. Furthermore, some fans and analysts even argue Pippen was better than Michael Jordan. When someone said that to Roy Jones Jr., he was not impressed.

During the 2004 interview, Jones recalled the time when he heard someone say that Pippen was better than Jordan on the famous Bulls team. To which Jones replied: “I said, ‘Don’t ever say that around me again. Matter of fact I’m going home. Because if you say that one more time, I’m going to jail! You understand me? I’m going to jail!’,” Jones Jr. said.

Jones Jr. also added that he had never met MJ before the incident, however, he doesn’t take disrespect like that lightly. Jordan and the others could be seen laughing as Jones told the story.

Scottie Pippen had a great season during Jordan’s first retirement. However, he could not lead the Bulls to a title. Pippen and Jordan together were deadly and undoubtedly one of the best duos ever to play the game together.
