Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the playoffs last season and continues to contribute heavily to the team’s 26-14 record in the Eastern Conference this season. However, a shocking statistic about the Bucks superstar’s long-time rival has blown away the NBA world recently.

The rivalry between Giannis Antetokounmpo and James Harden sparked up in January 2019 when the Bucks superstar knocked the former Rockets star after hitting him in the head. However, the beef took a turn for the worse when Giannis was named the 2019 MVP, despite a dominating performance from James Harden. Now, the recent stat about Harden’s performance has left the fans appreciating Giannis’ long-time rival.

A recent Tweet by StatMuse suggested, “Fun Fact: James Harden is top 2 in APG for 3 different franchises.” The stat revealed that James Harden has secured the second position in the highest assists per game category for three different franchises, namely the Houston Rockets, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

The stat left one of the fans commenting about Harden’s 2019 MVP controversy with Giannis. The fan wrote, “And they gave his MVP to Giannis.”

James Harden had the best scoring season of his career in 2019. The 10-time All-Star averaged 36.1 points, with 6.6 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game in 78 appearances. Meanwhile, Giannis averaged 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game in 72 appearances.

Despite performing better by a huge margin in terms of scoring, Harden only attained 23% in the MVP voting while Antetokounmpo claimed 77% of the votes.

The Houston Rockets and James Harden did express their disagreement with the MVP decision. Later in August 2019, Harden also blamed the media for creating a narrative at the start of the season and then dragging it through the year.
