Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert debuted in the NBA almost a decade ago and since then, he has been one of the best defensive players in the league. His achievements speak for themselves: three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and six-time NBA All-Defensive First Team among various other individual accolades. However, his peers certainly think differently about him and a recent poll conducted by The Athletic confirms that.

While conducting the poll, 108 anonymous NBA players were asked what they feel about certain topics related to the league. Several interesting answers came out as players’ names were kept hidden and they were able to speak their minds. Among all the answers, one was about the Timberwolves center, which showcased what others think about him.

Moreover, Gobert’s name was also there, he was tied for the fourth-most votes with 5.6%. A certain player while answering the aforementioned question, uttered a few words about the three-time DPOY. He said about the Frenchman, “To me, it’s like, he blocks shots. What else is he really doing? He’s 7’3.”

It’s unclear why the players thought the Frenchman was an overrated player, but one of the reasons could be due to his limited offensive game. However, regardless of what others think about him, the big man could use this as motivation and turn around the series against the Denver Nuggets, showing everyone his true potential.
