When NBA Legend LeBron James left Cleveland for the second time, he did not face nearly as much flak as he did the first time around. LeBron had returned to his city and gotten the city its first NBA title ever. And the Cleveland fans adored him for that. But Chicago native Kanye West did not agree with LeBron’s move when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018.

LeBron was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2003 NBA draft and he spent his first seven years there. And then he left the Cavs to go to the Miami Heat in one of the most controversial moves in sports history. The King was hated throughout the league for a long time.

Later on, he came back to the Cavs after four years at the Heat. A year later, in 2016, LeBron would help the Cavs win their first title in franchise history. In 2018, LeBron left for the Lakers in free agency after four more years in Cleveland. This time around, he did receive much hate and the Cavs fans still welcome The King with open arms to this day.

However, not everyone was okay with LeBron leaving the Cavs again.

Kanye West said he was gonna heal Cleveland after LeBron James left

Chicago fan Kanye West was not pleased to learn that LeBron is moving to Los Angeles to go play for the Lakers. This move brought an end to a 11-year ride in his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron essentially made that team popular and a lot of local fans did not want to see him go.

West was also of the mindset that LeBron should have stayed in Cleveland. He talked about how he met Dan Gilbert, the Cavs owner. And how they are doing a project which helps them rebuild communities in Detroit and Cleveland.

West said, “I’mma just, it’s not my place, but just to make it Ye — I feel like LeBron really needs to be in Cleveland. It ain’t my place, I’m sorry Mav & LeBron for saying, I know I’m speaking out of place, but I feel like LeBron needs to be in Cleveland. Ye needs to be in Chicago. Big U needs to be in Crenshaw.”

West wanted LeBron to stay so that he could help rebuild underprivileged communities. LeBron has done a lot of work for his community back in Cleveland and all around the country. His philanthropic work is highly talked about. And despite this, West did not want LeBron James to leave because no one could make an impact in Cleveland like LeBron did.
