The Sixers got eliminated from the playoffs last season, and it was Ben Simmons who caught much of the blame. He was called out by his teammates and coaching staff.
Simmons did not like or appreciate the criticism. He made it clear he wanted to be traded out of Sixers as soon as possible. He cut off all contact from the team and refused to play. However, his team did try to reach out to him first and showed him support to fight through his mental battles.
Embiid revealed that he had not spoken to Simmons since a few weeks before the trade deadline. There was no goodbye between them when he left the Sixers. The two were a good pair and a friendship among them.
Embiid recently revealed his true emotions in an interview. The Process said, “I did a lot of chasing around trying to get him back and try to make him feel comfortable again. It was tough. I didn’t care anymore.” It can be tiring for a person to keep chasing someone else when there is no response from their side. That is exactly what Embiid felt.
