The game of basketball isn’t over until the final buzzer rings. And tonight, the Boston Celtics proved it after taking a Game 1 of the NBA Finals over the Golden State Warriors. Being in a huge deficit entering the fourth quarter did not stop the Celtics from losing hope to win the game.

Likewise, they demolished the Warriors on both ends of the floor as they took control in the final 12 minutes of the game. Looking at this game, former Warrior Kevin Durant came out and had a few words against his former organization.

The Golden State Warriors aren’t new to making it to the big stage of the competition. Entering their 6th final in eight years, Stephen Curry and his men are used to the feeling. However, when the time came to deliver in Game 1, they looked lost.

Their third-quarter lead vanished within minutes as Boston sent shots flying right into the net. In addition, their defensive schemes on the Warriors were incredible as Udoka shut down their offense allowing just 16 points in the 4th quarter.

Likewise, looking at the impressive comeback by the Celtics, KD came to rub salt on the Warriors’ wounds. He sent a cryptic message right after the Bay’s embarrassing loss in Game 1.

Is Kevin Durant still not over the Warriors feud?

The Warriors and Kevin Durant have some sweet memories of lifting two championships together in just three years. His offensive skill helped the Warriors tackle LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. However, his stint didn’t last long after he felt a disconnect from the organization.

Now, even after going their separate ways, it seems Durant had some words for them.

Right after their loss in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, he wrote: “High level of basketball being displayed gentlemen.” While nothing points at the Warriors, Durant could be referring to the Celtics demolishing any sort of game plan his former team had. As his words did stand true. Boston gave the Warriors hell as they stole Game 1 on the road.

While it is the Warriors who are known for their shooting supremacy, the Celtics gave them a taste of their own medicine. Shooting nearly perfect from downtown in the fourth quarter, they rallied back into the game in no time. In his first Finals, Al Horford led the way for Boston. Scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, he stepped up in the fourth quarter.

Jaylen Brown also added 10 in the fourth ending the game with 24 points to his name. Derrick White once again went berserk off the bench scoring 21 valuable points for Boston. When their leading scorer couldn’t step it up, the role pieces came up huge in the win.

As for the Warriors, a hot start from Curry did not last till the end. Stephen Curry put up a game-high 34 points to go with 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Andrew Wiggins scored 20 points in his first finals game while grabbing 5 rebounds and blocking 3 shots.

However, not a single Warrior could step up at the time the game was slipping away. They had no answer on either side of the floor as they gave up an important home game away.
