LeBron James’ Reboot of the Iconic ‘House Party’ Didn’t Sit Well with Star of Original Movie: “Some Things Are Better Left Undone”

LeBron James is among the best players in the NBA and has broken several records on the court. However, now it appears that the Los Angeles Lakers star is taking over Hollywood. LeBron, along with Maverick Carter, under SpringHill Entertainment, has been producing the reboot of the iconic comedy film – ‘House Party.’ This is James’ second big step in the industry, with the first being ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’. While many are excited about the film to release, it hasn’t gone down too well with AJ Johnson, who played the role of ‘Sharane’ in the 1990 film.

The reboot of the ‘House Party’ has been in the works since 2018. The official trailer has been released, and it features LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, James’ appearance in the trailer is not as a person, but as a hologram.

AJ Johnson, who starred in the 1990 ‘House Party’, has also expressed her opinion on the reboot of the film. She isn’t really pleased with the reboot, which also features Snoop Dog.

AJ Johnson on the reboot of ‘House Party’

Popular actress AJ Johnson appeared for an interview with Vlad TV, where she talked about the 1990 ‘House Party’. She revealed that she was only paid $4K for her role in the movie. Later in the interview, she said that the film could not be ‘redone well’.

“I was not offered to be involved. I don’t know if I would have been. Because I honestly feel like when something is that iconic. I believe in a sequel. I believe in the prequel, that could be cool,” AJ Johnson said when asked if she was offered a role in the reboot.

“But to try to do a reboot, I just think some things are better left undone. You know they’re just better left where they are. Because it’s classic for a reason and I just don’t know any classics that get redone well. So, we’ll see what happens. I hope I’m wrong,” she added.

LeBron James, who is co-producing the film. It is too early to judge the film just based on the trailer. The 1990 film was a classic and was adored around the world. It performed so well at the box office that many sequels of the film were released in the following years.

‘House Party’ reboot features LeBron James’ lavish house

The reboot of the film will hit the theatres next year, with the trailer already being released. The film will feature LeBron James’ house, which will be empty in the film while he will be away on a meditation retreat.
