Los Angeles Lakers snapped their four-game losing streak against Cleveland Cavaliers at the Staples Center. This was their first win without the presence of either LeBron James or Anthony Davis in the lineup. However, they are not just aiming to keep their head above water.
In their absence, the likes of Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell took the mantle for the Lakers. They were monsters on both ends of the floor in the 100-86 win.
While Schroder recorded 17 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, and a chase-down block, Harrell had a double-double as he accumulated 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals. This win gives them much-needed breathing room in the Western Conference Table as they are now 1.5 games ahead of the Nuggets.

Though their aim is to keep ascending in the table rather than just hold on to their position. After the game, Harrell talked a big deal about their mentality without AD & LeBron.
“We’re not just looking to hold on or just try to keep our head above water without those guys. We’re trying to compete and win games. … It just feels good to get back in the winning column tonight.”
When will LeBron James and Anthony Davis return for the Lakers?
Davis’ recovery is processing very well. During the half-time against the Cavaliers, he got some shots on the court. According to NBA reporter for ESPN, Dave McMenamin, the Lakers‘ medical staff have cleared him to ramp up his on-court activities –
“Anthony Davis was re-examined by team medical staff earlier this evening. He continues to progress in his recovery and has been cleared to advance his on-court work. Additional updates will be given when appropriate.”

So, it is likely that we will see a timely return of Davis on the court in a week or two. As for his partner-in-crime, LeBron James, he is reportedly ruled out for another four to six weeks. He sprained his ankle against the Hawks.

So, in their absence until then, the likes of Kuzma, Harrell, and Schroder will need to hold the torch. And like Harrell said, not just hold on, but also try to compete and win NBA games.
