According to Erin Walsh from Bleacher Report, Chicago Bulls’ star Zach LaVine has shown interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

Why target Zach LaVine?

Just yesterday it was reported that LaVine had been struggling to see eye-to-eye with his franchise and some of his teammates. Not even 48 hours have passed before trade rumors began circling around Zach LaVine. The latest trade rumors have strengthened his claim that internal conflicts within the Chicago Bulls organization are still awry.

Furthermore, his potential trade could cost Russell Westbrook his future with the Lakers. Fans have already stated their dissatisfaction regarding such a potential deal.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

An Eastern Conference executive reportedly said, “LaVine wants to go to the Lakers, that has been pretty clear for a while now. The agents [from Klutch Sports] want him to be in Los Angeles, he is a UCLA guy and they did some rattling about his contract last offseason.

Zach LaVine has been averaging 21.7 points and 4.4 rebounds this season and could prove to be an “interesting fit” for the Lakers. Even before he signed with the Bulls, it was known that LaVine always wanted to team up with LeBron James.

Why are fans unhappy with the potential Russell Westbrook trade?

According to Bleacher Report‘s Eric Pincus, “The Lakers could make a pitch for LaVine and Vucevic for Russell Westbrook and 1-2 future first-round picks as compensation.”

The Bulls would possibly be interested in the deal because Russell Westbrook is one of the players who would become a free agent post this season. However, his contribution as a sixth-man role has proved to be beneficial for the Lakers. It has even been considered a season-saving move.

Westbrook has undoubtedly thrived in his new role and has been an effective ball handler for the Lakers off the bench. He is even in discussions for the Sixth Man of the Year award for his recent performances.
