NBA legend Charles Barkley always has something interesting to say on what’s going on in the NBA, be it on the hardwood or off-court. While his opinions sometimes get made fun of by his co-hosts on shows and fans alike, Barkley usually stands his ground. Social media gave him a piece of its mind today another controversial statement – this time about the ‘King of L.A.’.

LeBron James and the Lakers faced off their hometown rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers, in their matchup yesterday. Lakeshow could not defeat their city nemesis as the Clippers took the 11th straight win against them.

Charles Barkley makes a ‘King of L.A.’ prediction

Charles Barkley and other hosts on NBA on TNT were talking about who the true king of L.A. is, after the game between the two L.A. teams. The Lakers, who seemed to be out of the playoffs picture a couple of weeks ago, recently made one final push to jump to the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

All of a sudden, LeBron James and the Lakers seemed to be almost playoffs-bound, as the team managed to secure a spot in the play-in tournament. However, Philadelphia 76ers legend Charles Barkley still seems to disagree on who the true king of L.A. is.

While on the show, Charles Barkley and Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith got into an argument about whether the Lakers are making a run or not. ‘Sir Charles’ said, “The Lakers ain’t gonna make no run.” He went on to give the title of the ‘King’ to Kawhi Leonard of the Clippers.

“Kawhi Leonard ran them out of the building last night. Kawhi sent them a message last night. He’s the king of LA,” said Barkley. Interestingly, Barkley made multiple strong claims and picks on who would win in March Madness this year – they all turned out to be absolute busts and failures as prophecies. Unsurprisingly, LeBron James fans went for his jugular.

Loyal Lakers and fans of LeBron James come to the rescue

Whether Charles Barkley is right about Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Lakers or not, a lot of fans did not seem to agree with the NBA legend. One fan tweeted, “Lmaoo Charles still a hater. @NBAonTNT he loves the clippers and says this because he relates to them! 0 rings loves 0 ring franchises!”

Another commented, “Kawhi ain’t king of sh** til he bring LA a championship y’all need to SHUT THE FU** UP.”

Laker fans were quick to come to the rescue of their team. They brought up the number of championships they’ve had and how winning a series of games does not hold the same value. The playoffs are right around the corner now. Let’s see which L.A. team makes a deeper run for the postseason.
