“Last Night, I Dropped to My Knees..”: Magic Johnson Joins LeBron James, Dick Vitale and NFL World in Prayer for ‘Critical’ Damar Hamlin

Tragedy struck in the NFL world when Buffalo Bills star Damar Hamlin collapsed during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old Bills safety suffered from a cardiac arrest on Monday night in the first quarter of the game. This happened shortly after Hamlin tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. The medical support immediately rushed to Hamlin and performed CPR for about 10 minutes. Following that, Hamlin was finally taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in an ambulance. Following the unfortunate incident, athletes and fans from all around the world expressed their concerns and prayed for the NFL star’s speedy recovery.

The medical team reportedly had to resuscitate Damar Hamlin when his heart stopped on the field. After Hamlin was taken to the hospital, the game was suspended with no plans of rescheduling it anytime soon. According to a recent report from the Buffalo Bills organization, Hamlin spent the night in an ‘Intensive Care Unit’ and his condition is still very ‘critical’. Meanwhile, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Dick Vitale and the entire NFL world expressed their concerns about the tragic situation.

Magic Johnson and other stars pray for Damar Hamlin’s recovery

On Tuesday, Hamlin’s family issued a public statement thanking everyone for the immense support and asked fans to keep Hamlin in their prayers. The entire sports community is praying for a speedy recovery of the Bills star including NBA legend Magic Johnson. The former Los Angeles Lakers superstar recently took to Twitter and shared that he was praying for Hamlin.

Johnson wrote, “Last night I dropped down to my knees and prayed for Damar Hamlin and his family. Still praying that he makes a full recovery.”

Shortly after the incident occurred and the ambulance took Damar Hamlin, the players were reportedly given five minutes to warm up before resuming the game. However, according to sportscaster Joe Buck, the head coaches of the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills mutually decided to send the players back to the locker rooms.

During the Los Angeles Lakers’ post-game interview, after defeating the Charlotte Hornets, LeBron James said, “It’s definitely the right call by whoever made that call – [NFL Commissioner] Roger Goodell or whoever had an opportunity, the authority to make that call to suspend – the safety of players in all sports is always the most important.”
