With the Los Angeles Lakers having one of the worst seasons in their franchise history, the blame game is on. Whether it is LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, or Anthony Davis, no one is spared.

Among the Lakers roster, Russell Westbrook receives the major chunk of criticisms. His turnovers and decision-making have been the reason why the Lakers have lost some crucial points. With the trade deadline coming up, there are also talks of offloading Westbrook from the roster.

Although Westbrook has been having a terrible season, the hate he is getting is sometimes very unfair. And his latest statements make it very hard for someone to hate him.

Russ has penned a heartening message in which he mentions how he is happy just by waking up every day.

Safe to say Russell Westbrook has not had the best of returns to his hometown. He was the superstar acquisition during the summer for the Lakers, a move that put them as title contenders.

The Lakers are nowhere near a title, and Westbrook has been the easiest target for everyone to blame. When asked if he expects the season to go like this, Russ had a lot to say.

He said,” I don’t know what to expect. I’m honestly thankful to wake up every morning. If I wake up, I’m blessed to be able to do that, and then I’ll take the day, take what happens that day as that comes.“

A few weeks ago, Russell Westbrook gave us an insight as to how he deals with criticism. Talking to The Athletic, he gave us an idea of what goes on in his mind when he sees criticism.

Westbrook’s season so far

Although Russell Westbrook might be having one of his worst seasons, he is not the only problem at the Los Angeles Lakers. The team has been average all season and they still rely on LeBron James and his brilliance. Westbrook averages 18.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. 

The biggest worry for the Lakers coaching staff has been Westbrook’s bad decision-making and turnovers in the fourth quarter which have led to the team dropping points despite leading the entire game.
