The Golden State Warriors had started their season in excellent form, racking up four wins. A stunning victory against LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers on opening night established their credentials for the Western Conference title chase. Warriors superstar Stephen Curry continued his blistering form into the new season despite the absence of his teammate Klay Thompson, who is out because of injury.

However, they faced their first loss of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies. Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr candidly analyzed his side’s defeat in a post-match press conference. He chalked it down to being careless while in possession of the ball. The Warriors suffered from losing possession because of 23 turnovers.

Steve Kerr said, “You know we had a great first quarter. The ball was moving. And then we just got a little crazy out there and I give them credit. You know they were on a back-to-back. And they came in and dug in and played defense and forced some of those turnovers. But a lot of them were unforced. And you know that’s been our, kind of our goal all pre-season, all camp.”

“All early part of the season was to cut our turnovers down to a really reasonable number; you know, kinda twelve-thirteen range. And we have only been able to do that once out of the five games. We had, I think, seven in Sacramento, maybe.”

Kerr left room for improvement, saying, “So we have gotta do a better job taking care of the ball. So it’s a good lesson for us and we got to learn from it. It’s early in the season; I am confident that we’ll learn and we’ll get better.”

Steph Curry’s Warriors taste defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors narrowly lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime. It was a blunder-filled night for the Warriors as they lost at home at the Chase Center arena. The Grizzlies capitalized on the Warriors’ multiple turnovers to record a 104-101 win over the home team.

The Warriors had a tough night with multiple turnovers amidst Steph Curry recording five of them. Curry was the highest scorer of the game with 36 points, but it was not sufficient for a win. Jordan Poole had a night to forget, scoring only 6 points. Ja Morant performed particularly well for the visitors, recording 30 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. The Warriors face the Oklahoma City Thunder next in a home game.
