It has been 19 years since NBA star LeBron James first entered the league. After having an excellent college career the Los Angeles Lakers player went on to create his legacy in the league. In almost two decades of his career, James has won four NBA championships, four NBA Finals MVPs, 18 All-Star appearances, and many more titles.
There are only a handful of other players who have bagged four MVP awards and those players are all considered legends in the NBA world. Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have each earned four MVP awards in their careers.

He had previously played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat before signing with the Lakers. He has often been compared to former Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and has long been part of the GOAT debate as well. Such a tremendous career is undoubtedly something worth celebrating and Nike has done just that. James will be entering his 20th season this year and what better way to celebrate it than to launch the Nike LeBron XX sneakers?
Nike celebrates LeBron James
When LeBron James entered the league, he was just 18 years old and was already signing a seven-year deal with Nike that was worth $87 million. Interestingly, James hadn’t even played a game in the league yet, and he was already being offered millions of dollars. Other than Nike, Reebok had reportedly offered $115 million, whereas Adidas proposed a deal for $60 million.
Despite Reebok’s impressive offer, James chose to collaborate with Nike and the partnership is still going strong. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar then signed a lifetime deal with the brand in 2015.

The Nike LeBron XX is all set to make its debut in the 20th season along with James. It will be the first low-top shoe to be launched in James’ signature line. The Nike LeBron XX “Time Machine” colorway is reportedly significant as it celebrates the past, present, and future.

The lead designer of the LeBron line since the Zoom LeBron VII, Jason Petrie said “We saw the XX as a chance to celebrate the next 20 years for LeBron. The stitched tag inside the tongue says, ‘Designed and Engineered to the Exact Specifications of the Next Generation.’ We took that line seriously as we designed the shoe. We had players like LeBron’s sons Bronny and Bryce in mind. We wanted to get in their heads and learn about what young players were looking for.”
While the XX will hit the stores on September 29, fans have come forth to share their opinions of the shoe on Twitter.
