If you think the Los Angeles Lakers are having a tough start to the season, then the Brooklyn Nets aren’t far behind. The Lakers are 0-5, sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference. And the Nets are tied with the Detroit Pistons and the Orlando Magic for the worst record in the Eastern Conference, with a 1-5 record. The Nets recently lost their fourth consecutive game, with their sole win coming against the Toronto Raptors in their second game of the season.
And it is surprising to see, not just the Net,s but also the Lakers have such a bad start to the season. These teams have two perennial All-Stars in their lineup who produce big numbers almost every other night.

Brooklyn Nets following in the footsteps of the Lakers
In the Nets’ last outing against the Indiana Pacers, it was Brooklyn’s small forward Yuta Watanabe who had a head-scratching play. With 1:10 left in the first quarter, Pacers’ guard Andrew Nembhard shot an open three and missed.
And it seemed as if Yuta Watanabe was a little too eager to get the defensive rebound. He managed to split by two Pacers’ rebounders in the air but mistakenly almost ended up dunking the ball for the opponent.

A common denominator
There may be similarities between the Lakers and the Nets right now. But one more thing that may be common between these two teams is the liability of the third option. As Russell Westbrook has been somewhat of a problem for the Los Angeles Lakers, the Brooklyn Nets arguably have a similar problem with Ben Simmons.

Simmons was involved in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers which brought him to the Nets and ended up sending James Harden to Philly. Simmons has been pretty lackluster since he joined the squad and has yet to perform well.
The Nets might need to make some serious changes if they want to be competitive this year before things get out of hand this season.
