Given Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s endeavours towards social justice, the NBA had introduced the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award in 2021 to honor those NBA stars who contribute their part in the fight for social justice.

The NBA has recently announced Stephen Curry as the winner of the prestigious Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award. The 4x-NBA champion was selected from a group of five finalists. The NBA acknowledged Curry for carrying forward Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s vision and fighting for the betterment of marginalized individuals and groups. A sum of $100,000 will be donated University of San Francisco’s Institute For Nonviolence and Social Justice on Curry’s behalf.
