Talking about the Lakers’ head coach job, Pearlman talked about how underwhelming it is to see a name like Doc Rivers being linked to the Lakers.
Pearlman said, “I also think, I know you feel this like the Lakers job is a star power job. I know that sounds stupid to people like just hire the best coach in the world, but it is a star job, and it’s more than just about basketball.”
He added, “When I just hear the names they’re going after, I know you are a Doc fan, I’m not a Doc fan. I get the idea of that, he’s a name, he’s a brand, it’s something. It all feels really underwhelming.“
Why are that fans against Doc Rivers?
Both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers had talented rosters and big expectations. However, they both failed to deliver. While the 76ers crashed out of the second round of the playoffs, the Lake show failed to make it to the postseason.
