A Los Angeles Lakers legend and seven-time NBA champion recently found himself on the same side as Tracy McGrady. T-Mac made a bold statement on the #1 pick of the NBA draft, Victor Wembanyama. According to the Houston Rockets legend, the Frenchman’s hype is not justified by his skillset. McGrady believes that fans have hyped the Spurs’ talisman only because of his height and not his basketball skills.

Magic Johnson and Shaquille O’Neal‘s former teammate could not agree more. The #3 pick in the draft also reveals plans of his own.

In a podcast of the Lakers legend, Robert Horry, they spoke about the hype behind the 7’ 5, Victor Wembanyama. Robert Horry, also known as ‘Big Shot Bob‘, was a clutch player. It helped him win championships in LA, Houston, and Wemby’s new hometown, San Antonio. Notably, Horry never lost in the NBA Finals. Recently, he ranked Victor Wembanyama as the 3rd best player in his list of this year’s draft class.

However, T-Mac says the league shouldn’t be overly concerned about him because there are plenty of other players in the league who are just as skilled and have the same build.

Tracy stated, “I am not believing in height…. we have seen this before, we have seen a player like Bol Bol.”

Rob addressed this on his podcast. While agreeing with the fellow NBA legend, he said, “If you think about it he’s right, we need to hold off on him”.

This shows the level of competition in the NBA, even the #1 pick isn’t a shoo-in for the best player in the draft. The #3 pick certainly thinks so.

Amid the array of talented contenders, including the highly touted Victor Wembanyama, Aldridge’s attention was particularly drawn to a player who’s being likened to the iconic LeBron James.

Scoot Henderson, the #3 pick has already vowed to win the Rookie of the Year award. Drawing a parallel to LeBron’s early days, Aldridge notes that Henderson possesses a similar playing style and physique that recalls the youthful LeBron.

It seems Scoot is in agreement. The Portland Trailblazers guard recently spoke in an interview and made some bold claims. “My goal, obviously, is to win rookie of the year, and I will win rookie of the year.”
