The Golden State Warriors are currently one of the few NBA teams that don’t have a dominant ‘center’. Despite the addition of Chris Paul to their current Warriors team, the 2022 NBA champions are struggling to find their momentum in the new NBA season.
The Golden State Warriors are currently placed 10th in the Western Conference. In a recent podcast interview on the “Gils Arena Show”, ex-Nuggets star Kenyon Martin talks to Gilbert Arenas about the current Warriors’ issues and their crucial missing piece.

Martin mentions in the podcast, “I like Kevin Looney…but they need a post player, dog… They need somebody that can actually go get a bucket so it takes that pressure off.” Kenyon Martin indirectly says that the Warriors’ ‘three-point’ style of play may not be the best strategy. The ex-Nuggets star emphasizes the importance of having a skilled ‘big man’ inside the paint, who can relieve the pressure off the players on a ‘bad’ shooting day.

The host then asks Kenyon Martin, “Do you think of any guys that may fit that criteria that would be a good fit for that squad?”. Surprisingly, Kenyon Martin replies, “Not at this time..” However, the ex-Nuggets star then confesses, “It should’ve been DeMarcus Cousins…they should’ve brought him back.”
Kenyon Martin then clarifies that he respects Kevin Looney’s rebound prowess and overall playing style. However, he believes that a center should bring a different kind of confidence to the players on the team. The hosts then discuss different NBA prospects who could be a good fit with the current Warriors squad.

The Golden State Warriors are currently 10th in the West Conference. With a win-loss ratio of 7-8, the Warriors are still struggling to find their momentum as a ‘championship-contender’ team. The Warriors put an end to their six-game losing streak after their most recent win against the Houston Rockets. The ‘Splash Brothers’ balled their hearts out, with Klay Thompson scoring 20 points with 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and Stephen Curry scored 32 points, took 5 rebounds, and had one assist. Chris Paul also majorly contributed to this win with a ‘double-double’. He scored 15 points and had 12 assists in the game.
The GSW squad had a good shooting day as other GSW players also contributed to the total score of the team. However, GSW center Kevin Looney scored only 7 points, took 5 rebounds and had 3 assists. Clearly, something is going wrong with his performance.
