The James name has presided over the NBA for over two decades now. And when Bronny Jr. entered the league last year, LeBron added to his accolades as they became the first father-son duo to play together. “It’s pretty cool for the both of us, and especially for our family,” LeBron said. But as the senior James appears far from stopping, a week of milestones has made the possibility of playing with younger son, Bryce, a real one.
From dribbling around NBA courts with his elder brother to becoming a prospect for the league himself, Bryce grew up. And with the family now celebrating his convocation, the dream edges closer. Thursday marked yet another milestone for the family as Bryce James graduated from the prestigious Sierra Canyon High School. And for Savanah James, it brought around a wave of nostalgia.
“So proud of you and all the hard work you’ve done to get to this point. This is only the beginning! Keep striving to be the absolute best version of you! Love you more than words can explain and so excited to see what the future has for you!! I love you Stink!!” Savanah posted on IG with a carousel of pictures.

Bryce is a four-star prospect and committed to the Arizona Wildcats in January, despite receiving offers from Ohio State and Duquesne. However, a conversation around Bryce’s future was triggered due to a feat achieved by his father.
As the league announced the All-NBA teams, LeBron James’ name was on the list yet again, extending his remarkable legacy in the league. LeBron was named to the All-NBA second team for the 2024-25 season, joining Anthony Edwards, Steph Curry, Evan Mobley, and Jalen Brunson. While it was only James’ 4th time on the second team, he has been selected for the All-NBA first team 13 times in his career. What makes LeBron’s stature in the league undeniable, though, is the fact that he has only missed an All-NBA selection once in his career, his rookie season. The stat can sure seem bizarre to any basketball fan, and LeBron is no different. “ALL NBA at 40!! Low key crazy to me right now! Sitting here watching the playoffs just thinking about it. Blessed beyond I can even imagine.👑🙏🏾,” he wrote.
Bron’s selection further displayed that he isn’t slowing down in his 21st season, indicating the exciting possibility that Bryce might also get to play with his dad.

Can Bryce join LeBron in the league?
The All-NBA selection makes one thing clear. LeBron is still a star in this league. And while his Lakers might have fallen to the Timberwolves, it had less to do with Bron’s age and more to do with their Center issues. With Luka Doncic still settling into the squad, the expectations are set to be high around LA next season. For LeBron, though, the focus is on family. How, then, can LeBron play alongside Bryce?
While a simple point, Bron’s injuries will be a significant factor in this. LeBron sustained a grade 2 MCL sprain to his left knee during the Playoffs, meaning he would’ve missed the games even if the Lakers did move on to the next round. How James’ body recovers from this injury at the age of 40 and prevents further injuries will be key to his future in the league. For most 40-year-olds, this is a mammoth worry, but King James has been doing this for a long time. LeBron’s achievements say all you need to know about his longevity. And with his peers doing the rest, it appears the ball is in James’ court.
What’s your perspective on:
Can LeBron defy age and play alongside Bryce, creating an unprecedented NBA father-son duo?
Have an interesting take?
First off, Bryce James becomes draft-eligible in 2026. For him to enter the league, he’ll need to be 19 years old during that calendar year and at least a year removed from his high school graduation. That 2026 draft timeline lines up perfectly with these rules. And while he might enter the league in 2026, his dad’s contract ends the same year. LeBron currently has a player option for the 2025-26 season with the Lakers. So, the crucial part here is that for him to play with Bryce, LeBron would need to extend his career beyond that 2025-26 season.

The Lakers should happily provide the biggest star in basketball with an extension, and with Bryce showing displays of brilliance in high school and now joining the 2025 NCAA tournament final four side, Arizona, the dream doesn’t seem far off.
