Angel Reese opens up about her absence

After giving an exceptional performance against Virginia Tech, Reese accompanied Mulkey to answer some burning questions about her absence by the media. She was asked to share the general or conceptual need to take a leave and reset herself. Addressing the question, Reese said, “My mental health is the most important thing for anything. I’m gonna make sure I’m okay before anything because I wanna make sure I don’t cause anything harmful within the locker room. So I was being able to take a reset to myself.”

In addition to this, Reese rubbished all the controversies surrounding her and Kim Mulkey. She further added “Like I said before I’m human and not just an athlete and that’s okay to do. Pros do it all the time, so whatever stories that were written, don’t believe everything you read. I’m back, I’m happy and I’m here. I’m moving forward and I’m gonna take this team and help take this team as far as I can.”

Soon after, head coach Kim Mulkey reflected on her team’s performance following the impressive win.

Kim Mulkey talks about LSU’s win

The Lady Tigers were struggling in the opening quarter and trailed Virginia Tech 20-13 before the first buzzer. Consequently, Mulkey was asked about the adjustments she made offensively and defensively after the first quarter. She replied, “We’re not a polished product But what you saw tonight on the defensive end was physical play. You saw some athleticism. You saw some tough girls. We bowed our neck and we got after it.”

The Lady Tigers are now (8-1) in the competition so far. They haven’t looked back ever since their season opener defeat and have now won 8 games on the trot. Moreover, now that the All-American forward is back on their team, the defending champions are clearly looking like favorites for their second consecutive championship.
