The Maryland Terrapins may have lost their star player! In their fourth game of the 2025-26 NCAA season against the Marquette Golden Eagles, what was supposed to be an epic showdown quickly turned shocking as Terrapins star Pharrel Payne was stretchered off the court. But what happened exactly?

The incident occurred with 12:14 left in the second half. Payne went up for a dunk, but both of his legs gave way awkwardly on landing. He immediately showed signs of severe pain and was assisted off the court before being taken to a Milwaukee-area hospital for evaluation.

Before the injury, Payne had been flawless offensively, scoring 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting. His absence added to an already injury-plagued Maryland roster, with Myles Rice and Solomon Washington already sidelined.

However, despite the setback, Maryland emerged victorious with the final score of 89-82.

This is a developing story.
