Not only six, he played 17 seasons with Alabama and helped them to win 201 games, including 13 SEC championships. Even the head coach of Alabama retired after the 2023 season, an impressive victory over Georgia, with a 297-71-1 record.

To honor Saban, the field at Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium has been named Saban Field through a ceremony, will be held on September 7. Before that, in 2011, the school built a statue of him to recognize his sustained success with Tides. You must be aware of his immense love of Saban with college football as, during an interview with ESPN’s Rece Davis, the 72-year-old coach confirmed that he had transitioned his career and would stay in Tuscaloosa, still having an office at Mal M. Moore Building.

Saban’s new life after retirement

On August 21, 2024, Saban appeared in an interview with Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram II, and Rob Stone to discuss the current state of college football. There, he was asked, “Where are you though right now? I’m curious looking at your background,“. In a playful way, Saban replied, “Got Me Out of the Mal M. Moore Building.” Along with that, he mentioned, ” I was just watching Georgia Tech last year, so this a good place to be. I got some good people helping me and trying to prepare for the season because this is a sort of new Venture for us.” It reflects that Saban holds the love for football is never demolished as he steps into a new era of his career.

However, on February 7, he would be joining College GameDay as an analyst according to the ESPN announcement. That is why Saban would not get much time to spend in his office during the 2024 season. This career transition of Saban caught the attention of Alabama fans and followers, even his family members. Saban’s daughter, Kristen Saban, shared the pride in renaming Alabama’s stadium after her father.

Kristen shared a screenshot of Alabama Stadium on the map with the location name changed to “Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.” The most intriguing fact is that Saban was equally excited about this honor and he stated, “Being the leader of the process at Alabama has been the greatest privilege of my life. Terry and I are grateful for the naming of Saban Field, which forever celebrates our accomplishments.
